Prosperous Armenia Party leader Gagik Tsarukyan’s attorney Yerem Sargsyan has posted the following on his Facebook page:
“We would like to inform that the Criminal Court of Appeal of Armenia today announced its decision rendered on the basis of examination of the appeals filed by the attorneys against the decision on applying arrest as a pre-trial measure against Gagik Tsarukyan and the appeals filed by the Prosecutor General’s Office.
Since the parties were not present when the Court was announcing the decision, and since my fellow attorneys and I haven’t received the copy of the Court’s decision yet, we aren’t familiar with the content and reasoning of the decision and can’t comment on it.
However, we have been told that the Criminal Court of Appeal has decided to overturn the first instance court’s decision and forward the case to the same court for further examination.
To clarify, we would like to inform that the Criminal Court of Appeal has not rendered a decision to arrest Gagik Tsarukyan.
We would also like to inform that we will also consider the issue of appealing to the Court of Cassation of Armenia after receiving and examining the decision of the Criminal Court of Appeal.”
