The office of the Ombudsman of Armenia receives alarming signals from residents of the village of Movses and several other villages of the Armenia's Tavush province, Ombudsman Arman Tatoyan wrote on his Facebook.

At about 11 pm the Azerbaijani armed forces began shelling in the direction of the Tavush province.

"According to the inhabitants of the village of Movses, the shootings from the Azerbaijani side are at a very close distance to the village. According to the assessment of the civilian population, the shelling causes a real danger to the civilian settlement, their health, life and property," he noted.

"The Armenian Ministry of Defense confirmed that the shelling is carried out in the immediate vicinity of the peaceful settlements of the Armenian Tavush province and that there is a real danger to the peaceful settlements. The human rights activist is in direct contact with residents of border villages and the administrative authorities of the community."

"The human rights defender, as an independent national human rights institution and guided exclusively by the principles of human rights, strongly condemns the shelling.
