During phone talks, Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov and U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo thoroughly discussed the preparations for the meeting of the heads of the five permanent member states of the UN Security Council proposed by Russia.

As reported the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the parties exchanged views on the issue of ensuring strategic stability in the context of the upcoming meetings of Russian-American task forces.

The parties also discussed the problems with the settlement of conflicts in certain regions, including the state of affairs in Afghanistan, Libya and Syria. They also touched upon several other current issues on the agenda and the issues in bilateral ties.
