The trial over the case of second President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan and other ex-officials resumed after another break.

The motions previously filed by the defense attorneys for supplementing the list of people invited to an interview and for lifting attachment on the property of ex-official Armen Gevorgyan and Robert Kocharyan are on the agenda.

The judge asked for the sides’ opinions on the priority of issues. Attorney Hayk Alumyan stated that the issue on lifting attachment on property is more urgent than the issue on supplementing the list of witnesses invited to court and proposed to start from that. Although the properties of Armen Gevorgyan and Robert Kocharyan vary, the judge ruled to examine them together. Later, it was announced that, due to technical difficulties, it would be impossible to examine the motion to lift attachment on property, and the court ruled to examine Alumyan’s motion to supplement the list of witnesses invited to court.

Alumyan offered to include in the list former president of the Constitutional Court Gagik Harutyunyan and several judges of the Constitutional Court who had examined the appeals filed by former presidential candidates Tigran Karapetyan and Levon Ter-Petrosyan. According to Alumyan, Harutyunyan and the judges can provide important information for the case, particularly in regard to the alleged pressure on the Constitutional Court within the scope of the charge brought against Robert Kocharyan.

Later, ex-official Yuri Khachaturov’s attorney Mihran Poghosyan filed a motion to include other witnesses in the list who are involved in the case, but for some reason, weren’t included in the list of witnesses invited to court. When the judge asked for the grounds for such a request, the attorney objected and said the judge had left the list unchanged. In response, the court cited the Criminal Procedure Code and declared that the party submitting a motion has to give a justification.

The court will hear the prosecutors’ opinion on July 21.
