Azerbaijan presents us with an "incredible gift" and we should take advantage of this, an expert on Azerbaijani issues Angela Elibegova told Armenian News-NEWS.am commenting on the Azerbaijani threat to bomb Armenian nuclear plant.

Her remarks came amid the recent tensions at the Armenia-Azerbaijan border.

The expert also recalled the dismissal of Azerbaijani FM Elmar Mammadyarov.

“I don’t imagine that the new FM will be able to get involved in the negotiation process in the next few months,” she said.

According to her, the resignation of Mammadyarov is not connected with military actions, but with the intention to make some domestic changes.

Angela Elibegova did not rule out other resignations either.

"Before these hostilities, there were talks over Defense Minister Zakir Hasanov. If now he does not record any success, then it is very possible that he will be the next one," she said.

Angela Elibegova expressed confidence that Armenia should draw the attention of the international community to the statement of the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry spokesperson who threatened to strike at the Armenian nuclear power plant.

"The Azerbaijani side gave us an 'incredible gift' threatening virtually the entire region. It is necessary to constantly talk about this in all international structures and bring it to the attention of the international community," she said.

As she noted, Azerbaijan also launched an information war against Armenia, spreading misinformation, hacking accounts of Armenians, etc. Angela Elibegova noted that even before the outbreak of hostilities, Azerbaijan had prepared in advance for a propaganda war.
