Overall, the coronavirus situation in Armenia remains tense, but we also see that there is less workload in the healthcare system. This is what Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan stated during a meeting with members of the Union of Manufacturers and Businessmen (Employers) of Armenia today.

“In essence, we can give a precautious evaluation and state that we are entering the stage of overcoming the coronavirus crisis in terms of healthcare, that is, of course, if we continue to observe the anti-epidemic rules that are prescribed. I say this because certain circles in Armenia continue to advocate actions aimed at expanding the epidemic in Armenia, particularly in regard to face masks.

It is clear to us that the weakening of tension is first and foremost due to the requirement for face masks, and there is no doubt about this. If people stop wearing face masks, there will definitely be a rise in the number of coronavirus cases. We see that countries that hadn’t set the requirement for face masks are setting it now. Of course, it’s not pleasant, but we need to take actions that derive from the situation,” the head of government emphasized, attaching importance to the fact that the coronavirus situation has to be under control once and for all in order for the government to consider the economic agenda.

“We need to solve the issue related to the pandemic and move to the economic agenda which, of course, is a priority for our country. Once again, I would like to emphasize that the added value and revenues in the state budget are what help the country take care of its needs in terms of security, which has been, is and will be a priority for the government,” he added.
