YEREVAN. – At around 1:10am on Monday, contract soldier Ashot Mikayelyan sustained a gunshot wound in the throat at the outpost of a military unit, from a sniper shot fired by Azerbaijan, and he died on the way to a military hospital. The Investigative Committee of Armenia informed this.
A criminal case—on charges of murder—has been filed on the incident.
An investigation is underway.
