YEREVAN. – Currently, the situation is tense in front of the building of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Armenia.
Police do not allow the applicants who were not admitted to universities and their parents to approach the building.
The protesters want to enter the building to meet with the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Arayik Harutyunyan.
Breaking through the police wall, these applicants—with the slogan, "We want to learn"—approached the building.
Police urged the protesters to maintain social distance.
To note, these applicants who were not admitted to universities and their parents are protesting, complaining about the results of the university entrance exams and the new approach of the education department. Accordingly, numerous applicants with lower scores were accepted to universities, whereas many applicants with higher scores were not accepted, as the applicants’ selected profession was underscored this year, and therefore priority was given to those who selected a given profession as their first choice, rather than to those with high scores in any subject.
