Statues of ancient Egyptian slaves have been dismantled in Dublin, The Irish Independent reported.

The administration of the Shelburne hotel dismantled the paired statues of the ancient Egyptian maidservants.

The sculptural group - besides its aesthetic functions - also had a utilitarian purpose: bronze beauties held stylized street lamps in their hands.
