YEREVAN. – There are serious challenges in the field of nature protection and environment. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this Friday while introducing the new minister, Romanos Petrosyan, at the Ministry of Environment of Armenia.

"At every step on the shores of [Lake] Sevan we see an environmental catastrophe, today. Let’s suppose [Lake] Sevan has not turned green [due to algae], it is clean, transparent. But what is happening around [Lake] Sevan cannot be described other than an environmental disaster.

Of course, we have a very important result in recent years. I think that during our tenure, the amount of poaching has significantly decreased, which can be seen even with the naked eye. We have achieved quite serious and tangible success also in terms of forest protection," Pashinyan added, in particular.
