YEREVAN. – The Ministry of Defense (MOD) of Armenia has dismissed the report that Turkish F-16 fighter planes had approached the Armenian border, 56 kilometers away from Yerevan.

"As for the air situation, the information circulating does not correspond to reality," reads the statement issued Monday by Shushan Stepanyan, spokesperson for the MOD of Armenia.

Lenta.ru, citing the Avia.pro portal, reported that at least two Turkish F-16 fighter jets had approached the Armenian border and turned back only when their distance from the capital city Yerevan was 56 kilometers. According to the website, this was done within the framework of a military exercise to launch a potential airstrike against Yerevan.
