YEREVAN. – According to the information obtained within the framework of the criminal case, Ruben Hayrapetyan has been a Russian citizen since June 20, 2003. This was reported by the public relations department of the prosecutor's office of Armenia—and in response to Armenian News-NEWS.am's respective inquiry.

"The clarifications expected on the termination of his search in the territory of the Russian Federation and the possible grounds for it have not been received yet from the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation, and at this moment we still cannot say whether R. Hayrapetyan being a Russian Federation citizen was the grounds for making a decision to stop the search," the Armenian prosecutor's office added.

Ruben Hayrapetyan, a former MP and ex-President of the Football Federation of Armenia, and his son, Rafik Hayrapetyan, are charged in Armenia under the Armenian Criminal Code articles on causing physical pain or mental suffering to an abductee or person taken hostage, abducting a person, and committing arbitrariness.

Arrest was chosen as a pretrial measure against Ruben Hayrapetyan, and a search was issued against him.

And a signature bond on not leaving Armenia was selected as the pretrial measure against Rafik Hayrapetyan.
