An Armenian died in a powerful explosion in Beirut, Armenian MFA confirmed.

The Foreign Ministry did not elaborate, but earlier NEWS.am, citing Imlebanon, reported that the Secretary-General of the Lebanese Kataeb Party Naza Najarian died from wounds received during the explosion in the port of Beirut.

"The Armenian Embassy in Lebanon is in touch with the relevant Lebanese bodies and the heads of local community structures," the MFA said in a statement.

At the moment, there is preliminary information about the death of one Armenian, while several Armenians are injured mainly from the breaking of glass amid the blast, the MFA added.

The blast also partially damaged the building of the Armenian Embassy in Lebanon.

The media reported at least 10 victims of the blast, but no official figures have been published yet.
