Ambassador of Armenia to the Islamic Republic of Iran Artashes Tumanyan today visited the Iranian Parliament of the Islamic Republic of Iran where he had a meeting with Chairman of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of the Iranian Parliament Mojtaba Zonnour, as reported on the website of the Embassy of Armenia in the Islamic Republic of Iran.

According to the press release, the interlocutors discussed a broad range of issues related to the bilateral ties, touched upon the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and, in this context, Tumanyan provided information about the clashes that took place on the Armenia-Azerbaijan border in July.

The parties also discussed several issues related to the coronavirus pandemic, as well as the current state of trade and economic relations and the opportunities for development amid the US government’s ongoing sanctions against Iran.

Tumanyan and Zonnour particularly touched upon the strengthening of cooperation between Iran and the Eurasian Economic Union and, in this regard, the special significance of the relations between Iran and Armenia.

Tumanyan and Zonnour stated the need for deepening of inter-parliamentary cooperation and attached importance to the intensification of cooperation of the heads of parliaments, standing committees and friendship groups.
