During a visit to Aras Free Trade-Industrial Zone in Iran, newly appointed Ambassador of Iran to Armenia Abbas Zohouri paid a visit to the Norduz border crossing on the border with Armenia, as reported the Public and International Relations Department of Aras Free Trade-Industrial Zone.

“As Iran’s gateway to the Eurasian market, the Norduz border crossing plays a major role in the country’s exportation and currency engagement and creates conditions for the presence of Iranian goods in the Eurasian market and the markets of the CIS that is growing on a daily basis,” Ambassador Zohouri said during the joint session with the head of Julfa region, head of the center in Norduz and the directors of the offices and centers stationed at the border crossing.

The Ambassador viewed the existence of the border crossing as a favorable condition for the Julfa region and Aras Free Trade-Industrial Zone and affirmed the importance of engagement of investments, as well as the development and planning of cooperation.

The Meghri-Norduz border crossing is the only terrestrial border of Armenia and the Islamic Republic of Iran. There are free economic zones on both sides, and the development and deepening of cooperation in those zones and at border crossings are on the agenda of the parties’ discussions.
