Spokesperson of the Ministry of Defense of Armenia Shushan Stepanyan today posted the following on her Facebook page:

“Minister of Defense of Armenia Davit Tonoyan today had a telephone conversation with Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Andrzej Kasprzik.

During the conversation, Tonoyan drew Kasprzik’s attention to the video message of officer of the Armenian army Gurgen Alaverdyan disseminated by Azerbajiani media outlets today and the previously posted video, emphasizing that these videos are a gross violation of internationally enshrined rights, including international humanitarian law.

The Geneva Conventions guarantee protection of the rights of prisoners of war, their right to respect for their honor and dignity which must rule out any type of degrading treatment, regardless of the conditions and location in which the person is, under the jurisdiction of the opposite side.

P.S.: Serviceman Gurgen Alaverdyan is clearly reading the text in bad Armenian which was developed for him and which he was forced to read.”
