According to the reliable sources of Pastinfo newspaper, a scandal is maturing in the Eurasian Economic Commission since Gegham Vardanyan, who was appointed Deputy Minister of Transport, Communication and Information Technologies following the revolution in Armenia and has been holding the position of Representative of the Republic of Armenia to the Eurasian Economic Commission since 2019, is suspected of squander and misuse.

The source of the Commission’s website reports that, by the assignment of Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission Mikhail Myasnikovich, the Commission has launched an investigation to clarify the data regarding squander of funds possessed by Vardanyan and the risks of possible corruption. The Representative is suspected of squandering the funds allocated for research and violating the rules for announcing tenders.

According to information, what served as a basis for investigation were the data according to which Vardanyan, using official position, hired his close ones through whom he tried to have an impact on the redistribution of tenders. In particular, Vardanyan set new conditions for contractors so that it would be impossible for operating organizations to participate in the tenders and new companies would win through the use of corruption schemes.
