YEREVAN. – In August, the sappers of the fifth group carrying out Armenia’s humanitarian mission in Syria have demined an area of 33,143 square meters, during which landmines as well as homemade explosives were found. This was reported by the Center for Humanitarian Demining and Expertise of Armenia.

Thus, a total of 238,230 square meters have been demined since the first day of the mission.

Under the conditions of coronavirus-related restrictions, the doctors from the fifth group provided medical assistance to 1,273 locals in August. Thus, from February 2019 until today, Armenia’s humanitarian mission to Syria has provided medical assistance to a total of 16,695 patients.

Ann August 29, the fifth medical group of the humanitarian mission was awarded with letters of thanks by Ziad Ajtaha, the minister in charge of health care in Aleppo Governorate, for their professional work.
