The Investigative Committee of Armenia is conducting an investigation to find out the circumstances behind the poisoning of five residents of Armavir city.

A report was received Monday from Armavir hospital that five local residents had been brought to the hospital in severe condition by ambulance and diagnosed with alcohol poisoning.

It was found out that they had bought and drank a beverage of unknown origin, as a result of which they were poisoned.

Two of them, however, died at the hospital without regaining consciousness.

The Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case into this incident.

During the investigation into this case, containers filled with a liquid similar to the smell of alcohol were found and confiscated at the scene. According to the participants’ statements, these poisoned persons had drank this liquid.
