Touching upon his clamorous statement that there was no air defense in Stepanakert during the Four-Day Artsakh War, President of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) Arayik Haroutyunyan today told reporters that there were several UAVs hovering over Stepanakert and that Artsakh managed to strike one of them.

Touching upon the statement of Secretary of the Security Council of Artsakh Samvel Babayan that the return of regions was on the negotiating table during the administration of the former authorities of Armenia, Haroutyunyan said the following: “Samvel Babayan isn’t the only one who has made this statement. We know what was discussed in regard to the Madrid Principles. There were two specific recommendations. One option was the return of five regions and discussion on status, and the other option was, I believe, the return of seven regions, a certain corridor, recognition of Karabakh’s independence, but not by Azerbaijan. Recognition or no recognition, what matters to me is our security. In this regard, the current government of Artsakh isn’t considering any option that may lower the degree of security. We have discussed the matter with the authorities of Armenia, we have our stance and our notions. In the past, we would talk more about recognition of the right to self-determination and then security, but now, security is the main issue,” he said.
