Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan congratulated President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko on his reelection, and this is the official position of the authorities of Armenia and the country. This is exactly why we are concerned about what is going on in fraternal Belarus. This is what President of Integration and Development NGO, member of the Public Chamber of Armenia, former deputy of the National Assembly and coordinator of the Eurasian Expert Group Aram Safaryan declared during the Moscow-Minsk-Yerevan-Bishkek-Tbilisi today.

Talking about the revolution that took place in 2018, he stated that it had a positive impact on Armenia’s relations with Russia.

“After two years, I must say that many promises have been fulfilled, yet a lot of promises haven’t been fulfilled. There are few supporters of the revolution, but public opinion surveys show that the majority of the people support the new authorities. As a matter of fact, they have started showing a good attitude towards Russia and have become more pro-Russian,” Safaryan said, adding that there hasn’t been anti-Russian rhetoric in Armenia over the past two years.

“The new authorities actively support Armenia’s accession to the Collective Security Treaty Organization, the CIS and the Eurasian Economic Union. There was no split in Russia after the velvet revolution, even though there are pro-Western figures in government,” he added.
