Out of the citizens of Armenia seeking asylum in Europe, 97% of them are rejected. This is what Head of the State Migration Service of Armenia Armen Ghazaryan said during a discussion on ratification of the Protocol on implementing the Agreement between Armenia and the European Union on Readmission of Persons Residing without Authorization in Benelux countries (Kingdom of Belgium, Great Dux of Luxembourg, Kingdom of the Netherlands) held as part of today’s session of the Standing Committee on Foreign Relations of the National Assembly.

According to Ghazaryan, in most cases, it turns out that citizens of Armenia aren’t politically persecuted in their country, and this serves as a basis for rejection of their applications. As far as citizens of Armenia who left their medical treatment incomplete in Europe and returned to Armenia are concerned, Ghazaryan assured that, in most cases, those citizens are hospitalized right after they arrive at the airport.
