Lebanese Central Bank governor Riad Salame, who has held this post since 1993, said he had no plans to step down, despite rumors of his resignation amid the deep financial crisis in the country, Reuters reported.
In an interview with CNBC, Salame said he insists that he has a strategy to get the country out of the crisis.
Salameh, long considered as a pillar of the Lebanese financial system, has faced heavy criticism over his record since the onset of the crisis that has paralyzed the banking system and sunk the currency since October.
Many in Lebanon accuse him and other members of the ruling elite of plunging the country into economic chaos, which was exacerbated by the tragic Beirut blast.
