YEREVAN. – During Wednesday’s press conference, Hayk Alumyan, a lawyer of Armenia’s second President Robert Kocharyan, touched also upon the matter of the injured parties’ attendance in Kocharyan’s court case.

"Issues related to the death of people [during the events that occurred in Yerevan on March 1, 2008] are being considered within the framework of the case which is under the proceedings of the Special Investigation Service; it is not considered in our [court] case," Alumyan said.

He recalled that the prosecution explained the injured parties’ attendance to Kocharyan’s court case by the fact that all those who were recognized as injured parties in the initial case retain this status. "The selection criteria are incomprehensible. Perhaps, they have chosen those who are ready to put the blame on Mr. Kocharyan," the lawyer said, in particular.

According to him, there is an impression that the prosecution in the case has the right to "veto" the issues under consideration.
