Australian agents ransacked the homes of four journalists working for Chinese state media in July and confiscated their electronics, the AP reported referring to the Chinese Foreign Ministry.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian made this statement a day after the last two Australian journalists were evacuated from China.

An Australian citizen who works as a journalist for the Chinese state media was detained on suspicion of committing crimes against national security, according to the Chinese Foreign Ministry.

The searches were carried out at the homes of Chinese media reporters of Xinhua, China Central Radio, CCTV, and China News Agency, the MFA said.

Four Chinese journalists had returned to China and denied any connection between China and the return of Australian journalists to their homeland.
