Poland said 40-50 people will be included in the EU sanctions list amid elections in Belarus and subsequent protests, TASS reported referring to the Deputy FM of Poland Piotr Wawrzyk.

Poland would like this list to be as wide as possible, he said noting that they advocate that the list be open so that it can be easily expanded to the maximum.

The EU first introduced restrictive measures on Belarus in 2004 following the disappearance of two oppositionists, a journalist and a businessman back in 1999-2000.
