Tesla plans to export Model 3 electric vehicles to the Asian and European markets, Reuters reported.

The American automaker, which began shipping Model 3 electric sedans from its Shanghai plant in December, also plans to sell the new model electric car to Japan and Hong Kong from next year, one source said.

The company did not comment in this regard.

Tesla, which aims to build 150,000 Model 3s this year, sold about 11,800 of the model's electric cars in China in August.
