YEREVAN. – Past daily of Armenia writes: Against the backdrop of growing tensions in the South Caucasus, the countries of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs are showing some activeness, urging the parties [to the Artsakh [(Nagorno-Karabakh)] conflict] to enter into substantive talks.

In the analysts’ conviction, this is about negotiations based on existing documents. Otherwise, according to them, if there were no document on the agenda, there would be talk of discussions or negotiations over a new document.

Taking into account the fact that in recent months the mediating countries [Russia, US, and France] have been talking—directly or indirectly—about various changes to the Madrid document, it can be assumed that even today there is a version of that document on the negotiating table.

It is not yet known whether Azerbaijan is ready to participate in the talks on that document. Armenia has not rejected it; [PM] Nikol Pashinyan only spoke about the fact that some provisions of that document are not comprehensible and that he turned to the mediators for clarifications.

In any case, realizing the seriousness of the situation, the co-chairs are trying to resume talks, but it is still difficult to say how successful it will be.
