The US government has executed African American Christopher Vialva, who was sentenced for murder. This is the first time a death penalty is given in the past 17 years.
Vialva was 19 when he and other members of a group murdered Todd and Stacie Bagley at Fort Hood military base in Killeen in 1999.
Vialva’s death is the seventh federal execution this year after a push by President Donald Trump’s administration to restart the federal death penalty after a 17-year hiatus.
