YEREVAN. – The development of the situation in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone is being closely monitored in Athens. Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias, who is in Yerevan on a working visit, said this at Friday’s joint press conference with his Armenian counterpart Zohrab Mnatsakanyan.

The Minister noted that Greece welcomes the Moscow agreements. But we are concerned about the ceasefire violations. Let me repeat: the regime must be done. The long-term solution of the issue is possible only in a peaceful way under the auspices of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs, the Greek Minister stressed.

At the same time, he stated that it is extremely important for the international community to separate those who add fuel to the fire and those who show a constructive approach. Foreign intervention must be stopped; Ankara's behavior raises serious concerns, Dendias stated.

He reminded that Greece was the first to demand the EU's response to the Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) conflict and offered to call on the EU to stop the intervention of foreign players. In Greece, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo's respective statement was accepted with satisfaction, Dendias added.

The Greek minister reminded that Greece had recalled its ambassador to Azerbaijan for consultations in connection with this incident.

Continuing the topic of Turkey's destructive behavior, the Greek FM said that he briefed his Armenian counterpart on the situation in the Mediterranean. Syria, Iraq, Libya; Turkey is behind all that, he stated.

According to him, Greece's position is clear, as it is always ready for dialogue based on international law. But instead of calling for dialogue, we again faced provocations from Turkey. Therefore, we emphasize that Turkey should be judged by actions, not by words, Dendias stated.

He said that during his meeting with Armenia’s FM he discussed the situation around Cyprus. Here, too, Turkey continues its illegal activities in the Cypriot economic zone and in coastal waters, violating the UN resolution, Nikos Dendias said.
