Since the first day of the war, Russia has done and is doing many things as an allied state and a strategic partner that you reporters might not know about, and I myself can’t comment on that. Edmon Marukyan, chairman of the opposition Bright Armenia Party (BAP) and head of its parliamentary faction, said this in a talk with journalists Wednesday.

Asked if he isn’t disappointed with the stance of Western countries which only express concerns and don’t take any action to stop the war and suppress Azerbaijan and Turkey, Marukyan said the following: “I can be disappointed with something or someone from which or from whom I have expectations. I didn’t have expectations.”

Marukyan also noted that the Armenian side really needs a ceasefire since it has prisoners of war and bodies of heroes that need to be retrieved from sectors of the battlefield. “Armenia can’t do that now. Anyone who has respect for a deceased soldier or prisoner of war must support the humanitarian ceasefire. This is a rule of war.”
