Armenian citizen Azniv Baghdasaryan was taken prisoner by Azerbaijanis on October 7. The National Security Service (NSS) of Armenia informed this in response to Sputnik Armenia's written inquiry.

On October 7, a video appeared in the Azerbaijani media, where two Azerbaijani soldiers had "easily and calmly" received Baghdasaryan, who had remained in one of the villages of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh). This obviously fake video presented by the Azerbaijanis had caused quite a stir on social media, as this woman, in turn, had said to the Azerbaijanis, "Welcome to your home." After that, rumors circulated that Azniv Baghdasaryan was not Armenian, and, allegedly, the same woman had appeared in Azerbaijani news in 2019, too.

"On October 7, after being taken prisoner, in an interview with the Azerbaijani website az.sputniknews.ru, under the influence of fear, the woman said that she had been unconscious for three days. After that, the woman was allegedly found by Azerbaijani soldiers, and they allegedly saved her life," the NSS statement reads.

Zara Amatuni, head of communications and prevention programs at the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Armenia office, in turn, told Sputnik Armenia that the ICRC delegation in Azerbaijan had visited Azniv Baghdasaryan who had ended up in that country. "The ICRC representatives got acquainted with her detention conditions, the treatment towards her, and gave her the opportunity to establish contact her family members," Amatuni added.

To note, the ICRC representatives had visited also three POW Armenian servicemen Areg Sargsyan, Narek Amirjanyan, and Albert Mikayelyan in Azerbaijan.
