Minister of Defense of Armenia Davit Tonoyan today received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to Armenia Jonathan Lacôte.

The Ministry of Defense reported that the current situation in the zone of hostilities was discussed during the meeting. The defense minister presented facts about the involvement of foreign servicemen and mercenaries and the consequences of the targeting of peaceful settlements by the adversary. Tonoyan emphasized that the Armenian forces have sufficient resources to meet their objectives with confidence and that only through the application of international verification measures will make it possible to ensure maintenance of the ceasefire.

In his turn, Ambassador Lacôte mentioned the need for fulfillment of the ceasefire agreements and exertion of efforts for a settlement of the conflict through negotiations.
