The materials purchased for the failed constitutional referendum may be used for the next elections. This is what Chairman of the Central Electoral Commission of Armenia Tigran Mukuchyan said during today’s discussion on the draft of the 2021 State Budget held as part of the joint session of the Standing Committees on Financial-Credit and Budgetary Affairs and on State and Legal Affairs of the National Assembly.

According to him, this concerns ballot envelopes, seals and all that isn’t identified with the constitutional referendum that was supposed to be held in early April of this year.

As far as the elections of local self-government bodies scheduled for December are concerned, the Commission will have to postpone them.

Overall, the day of elections is announced 70 days before they are held, but they might not be held or announced in case of martial law or state of emergency.

“Thus, the elections of local self-government bodies will be postponed until next year and will most likely be held in March 2021,” Mukuchyan said.
