YEREVAN. – The Prosecutor General's Office has already informed that Syrian citizens Muhhrab Muhammad Al Shkhair and Yussef Alabet Al Haji have been arrested within the framework of the criminal cases on the war unleashed and waged by the military-political leadership of Azerbaijan along the line of contact with Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh), international terrorism, serious violations of international humanitarian law during the armed clashes, issuing criminal orders during armed conflict, and hiring mercenaries, the Prosecutor General's Office stated.

The aforesaid Syrian nationals have been charged under the Criminal Code of Armenia articles on international terrorism, serious violations of international humanitarian law during armed conflicts, and carrying out mercenary activities.

According to the obtained facts, the aforementioned persons were transferred from the northern settlements of Syria to Azerbaijan in September-October—and via Turkey, and were illegally directly involved—as part of the Azerbaijani armed forces and for a fee—in the military operations and crimes against the Artsakh Defense Army and civilians.

Within the framework of cooperation in the fight against international terrorism, the Prosecutor General's Office of Armenia appeals to foreign diplomatic missions in the country and to international organizations specializing in the fight against international terrorism that if they wish to be convinced of the above-said circumstances, the Prosecutor General's Office is ready to ensure—based on the relevant petition—contacts with these arrestees and provide other necessary information on the abovementioned.
