YEREVAN. – Yerevan police are detaining citizens who came to participate in the 17 opposition political parties’ rally Wednesday at Liberty Freedom Square.

A large number of police forces had gathered at the square hours before the start of the rally.

The participants in the rally begun to be detained half an hour before the start of the event. The detainees were shouting "[Armenian PM] Nikol [Pashinyan], traitor!" and "The one who handed over the land [i.e., Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh)] must leave!"

In particular, the police detained chairman Garnik Isagulyan of the National Security party, and co-founder Ruben Melikyan of the “Legal Path” NGO.

Seventeen political parties have called for a rally Wednesday at Liberty Square, and demanding the resignation of the Prime Minister and the government.
