The Co-Chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group maintain their role. This is what Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov said during today’s press conference.

Lavrov didn’t agree with the negative assessment on the meeting of the foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan organized by Pompeo and talked about the efforts that the mediators have been making and the statements that they have been adopting since the escalation of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. The minister stated that the mediators were somewhat offended that they weren’t thoroughly informed about the course of negotiations, but the relevant clarifications were correctly perceived.

According to Lavrov, efforts are being made to engage the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees and the International Committee of the Red Cross in the process. “The ICRC has been working in Armenia, Nagorno-Karabakh and Azerbaijan for a long time. The role of the Co-Chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group is fully maintained, and Armenia’s foreign minister affirmed this during phone talks today,” Lavrov said.
