In response to questions from Members of the Parliament of Sweden Bjorn Sjoder and Robert Halef, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sweden Ann Linde said Sweden, which will be assuming the chairmanship of the OSCE at the end of this year, will continue to support the efforts to reach a long-term and durable resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Armenpress reported.

“The Swedish government welcomes the fact that Armenia and Azerbaijan agreed to a ceasefire. Currently, we are trying to obtain more information about the reached agreements and their implementation. It’s clear that the conflict is not over and there are still many issues to solve. This is exactly why the OSCE and the international community must stay true to a durable, long-term and negotiated settlement. I will continue to support those efforts when I assume the chairmanship of the OSCE at the end of the year,” Linde said, adding that the hostilities in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone were heated and caused human casualties and significant damage.

“Sweden condemns the attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructures. The norms of international humanitarian law need to be respected. Tens of thousands of civilians were forced to leave the conflict zone, settlements and civilian objects like schools and hospitals have been destroyed,” the Swedish foreign minister said.
