During a conversation with Armenian News-NEWS.am, a representative of the Information Department of the State Service for Emergency Situations of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) Hunan Tadevosyan said the Service doesn’t deal with the evacuation of the residents of the 7 villages of Martakert region and that’s why the Service can’t report anything.

“I can say that the residents didn’t know that they had to leave. They were told in the evening. The process is unfolding, and people are leaving their homes. Some of them have gone to Armenia, while others remain in Artsakh,” he stated.

According to him, the government has assumed the duty to compensate the rents for the apartments of the residents who have stayed in Artsakh.

According to the provisions of the trilateral agreement on ceasefire, the New Maragha, New Aygestan, New Seysulan, New Karmiravan, New Haykajur, Hovtashen and New Jraberd settlements of Martakert region will also be transferred to Azerbaijan. The statement states that Aghdam region will be transferred to Azerbaijan before November 20, 2020.

Measures are being taken to remove the items of over 2,000 residents of the mentioned villages and provide them with temporary shelters and other means. The residents have been given until November 19 (11 p.m.) to leave the territories.
