Third President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan today sent a telegram of condolence to the Grigoryan family on the occasion of the death of ex-president of the Union of Volunteer Land Defenders, Lieutenant General Manvel Grigoryan, the Office of the 3rd President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan reported.

The telegram of condolence particularly reads as follows:

“I was deeply saddened by the news about the death of former president of the Union of Volunteer Land Defenders, Lieutenant General Manvel Grigoryan who, like my several friends-in-combat, is inseparably linked to several heroic episodes of the battle for the liberation of Artsakh and the liberation and defense of the holy land of Artsakh.

The inhumane and villainous treatment of the incumbent authorities, their consistent and targeted discrediting against Manvel Grigoryan over the past two-and-a-half years left its trace on his health.

The hero of Artsakh also passed away by seeing how the authorities handed over the lands he had actively helped liberate and the martyrdom of several heroic men for which all us Armenians are mourning, and this dealt a great blow to Manvel.

At this difficult moment, I express my deep condolences and support to you, your relatives and close ones and the friends-in-combat of Manvel Grigoryan.”
