Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Russia and France Sergey Lavrov and Jean-Yves Le Drian discussed the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh.

The press service of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that the foreign ministers discussed the situation regarding the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and the mediation efforts that Russia has made for complete cessation of all hostilities and fire in the conflict zone.

The press service also reported that the ministers underscored The ministers underscored the importance of ensuring implementation of the provisions stated in the trilateral statement signed by the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia on November 9 and cooperation with international organizations.

Lavrov clarified the parameters of involvement of Russian peacekeepers and the functions of the Interdepartmental Humanitarian Response Center.

The ministers agreed that the current key priorities are the safe return of internally displaced persons and refugees, the de-blockage of economic and transport communications in the region, the provision of humanitarian aid and the restoration of civilian infrastructures.

They also exchanged views on the future steps for a long-term and full-format settlement of the crisis around Nagorno-Karabakh, based on the principles agreed within the scope of the OSCE Minsk Group and proceeding from the equal interests of the Azerbaijani and Armenian peoples.
