Defense Minister Sergey Shoygu, who is paying a working visit to Armenia on the instructions of Russian President Vladimir Putin, met—in Yerevan—with Armenia’s new defense minister, Vagharshak Harutyunyan, reported the Information and Public Relations Department of the Russian Defense Ministry.

The maintenance of the ceasefire in Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh)as well as the implementation of the provisions of the trilateral statement signed by the Presidents of Russia and Azerbaijan and the Prime Minister of Armenia was discussed during the meeting.

Also, Shoygu informed Harutyunyan about the course of the Russian peacekeeping mission in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone, the deployment of Russian peacekeeping contingent units and observation posts on location, the conducting of monitoring for the cessation of hostilities, as well as the resolution of humanitarian issues.
