The United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS) and other units are working toward emergency deployment in Nagorno-Karabakh, and the mission to assess the needs of the parties will most likely begin to operate in early December, a representative of the UN Department of Peacekeeping Operations told RIA Novosti.

“The United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS), other units and the on-site group is working toward emergency deployment, in the context of provision of UN assistance that the parties have requested. This (UNMAS mission deployment-ed.) will likely begin with the needs assessment mission on the spot in early December,” the UNMAS representative said when asked if the UNMAS will help Azerbaijan to demine the Nagorno-Karabakh zone.
