YEREVAN. – The Council of Elders of Yerevan is convening a regular session Tuesday; since Mayor Hayk Marutyan became infected with the coronavirus; this meeting is chaired by First Deputy Mayor Hrachya Sargsyan.

The sitting started with the observance of a minute of silence in memory of the casualties of the recent Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) war.

Subsequently, the deputy mayor announced that Arsen Karapetyan from the majority My Step faction of the Council of Elders had submitted a petition to terminate his respective powers. Besides, Isabela Abgaryan also from My Step has submitted a petition to leave the faction, but she remains a member of the Council.

And Mikayel Manrikyan, The head of the opposition Prosperous Armenia Party faction, informed that they had petitioned to the mayor in writing, whereby they are renouncing their post of deputy chair of the Urban Development and Land Use Committee of the Yerevan Council of Elders.

The deputy mayor announced that 11 matters were on the agenda of the current session of the Council.
