YEREVAN. – One hundred million drams (approx. $200 000) have been allocated for the restoration of Stepanakert, from Yerevan's 2020 budget for the organization of New Year events; this decision was made at Tuesday’s meeting of the Yerevan Council of Elders.
The aforesaid funds will be spent on the repair of damaged civilian infrastructures and facilities of the Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) capital.
Deputy Mayor Sergey Nersisyan noted that in the future it is planned to allocate additional such funds from the Yerevan budget.
On November 9, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, and Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a joint statement on a complete cessation of hostilities—which Azerbaijan had launched on September 27—in and around Artsakh.
