The Armenian motorized rifle troops stationed in Karvachar have blown up the barracks and buildings of their military unit and left the area which, according to the agreement, is to be under the control of Azerbaijan, RIA Novosti reported.

"We stayed here during the [recent Artsakh Nagorno-Karabakh)] war and did not give them [the Azerbaijanis] anything. Now it is 12 kilometers—in a straight line—to the Azerbaijanis. We are removing our primary positions in the mountains, and after that we demolishing the remaining buildings of the military unit so that they do not remain in the hands of the Azerbaijanis. After the detonation we will leave for Armenia. At the moment, our unit is one of the last [in the area]," a spokesman for the motorized rifle command told reporters.

On November 9, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, and Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a joint statement on a complete cessation of hostilities— which Azerbaijan had launched on September 27—in and around Artsakh. Accordingly, Russian peacekeepers are deployed in the region to monitor the implementation of the ceasefire and the cessation of hostilities. But this statement also stipulates the handover of part of Artsakh lands to Azerbaijan.
