YEREVAN. - The oppositional Armenian National Congress (ANC) has changed its tactics expressing readiness to negotiate with the government, refusing principles and the earlier statements, MP from “Heritage” party faction Armen Martirosyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am. He commented on ANC leader Levon Ter-Petrosyan’s statement at the May 31 rally that the opposition was ready to form a delegation and to begin talks with the authorities.

“We are witnessing that the ANC’s previous actions and goals do not coincide with the current activities. Today the ANC lacks programs which were on the agenda in 2008,” the MP noted.

According to him, the government will cooperate with the opposition and the two will enter into a dialogue. “They will hold a dialogue, including on the snap election in the country, but I think it is not real. They are unlikely to reach an agreement on snap elections, taking into account the authorities also refused radical approaches and released political prisoners,” Martirosyan said.

Speaking at Tuesday’s rally, opposition leader Levon Ter-Petrosyan said they would form a delegation of 3-5 people and represent agenda of dialogues to the authorities. “Among our demands are snap presidential and parliamentary elections,” he noted.
