Belgian parliamentary commission has called on for early determination of the Nagorno-Karabakh status, TASS reported.

The commission of the Belgian federal parliament approved a resolution condemning the aggression of Azerbaijan and Turkey in Nagorno-Karabakh and calling for an early determination of the final status of this territory. The vote on the document took place on Wednesday evening.

According to the resolution, the ceasefire agreement of November 9 did not solve serious issues in the region. MPs condemn Azerbaijan's aggression in Nagorno-Karabakh with the support of Turkey and foreign mercenaries. They also call for the withdrawal of Azerbaijani forces from Nagorno-Karabakh and a return to negotiations on the status of the region within the OSCE Minsk Group.

Besides, the MPs urge to do everything so that Turkey no longer interferes in the situation around Karabakh and ceases to play a destabilizing role in the region.

The MPs also believe that an international presence is needed in Karabakh, including for help in maintaining peace and investigating war crimes. They also call on the Belgian government, together with the EU, to provide humanitarian aid to the Karabakh refugees.

The document also contains a call to make every effort to investigate the war crimes committed in Karabakh and bring those responsible to justice. Finally, the MPs are calling for the return of prisoners and bodies of those killed during the conflict in accordance with the Geneva Convention.

Now the resolution must be approved by the federal parliament at a plenary meeting, after which the document will go to the government of the kingdom.
