YEREVAN.- National Security Service of Armenia neither refutes nor confirms Georgian press reports saying Badri Bitsadze, husband of former Georgian parliament speaker Nino Burjanadze, is in the territory of Armenia.

“We have no information on this issue,” spokesperson Artsvin Baghramyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

Police also refused to comment on reports saying it is not in police competence.

Bitsadze was accused of organizing armed resistance against the authorities and organizing mass riots. Rumors have it that he has left the country. His whereabouts are not known since May 26.

Nino Burjanadze called the charges against her husband fabricated. She refused to pay $60,000 bail to show solidarity with other arrested opposition activists.

According to Georgian Rezonansi newspaper, Bitsadze is hiding in Armenia. He reportedly left Georgia on Sunday, newspaper writes referring to its sources.
