Japan is closing borders for all visitors for a month, Kyodo reported, citing a government decree.
The restrictions are being introduced as a preventive measure in connection with the discovery of a new strain of coronavirus in a number of countries, the statement said.
The measures will be in effect from December 28, 2020, to January 31, 2021.
Japan has reported 218,385 COVID-19 cases, while 180,032 people have recovered, and 3,052 people died.
